Where do Gabbeh rugs come from? In Persian, Gabbeh means rough or natural. Woven by the nomadic Qashqai tribe in the Fars province of Iran, Gabbeh rugs are Iran's most famous nomadic rugs and refer to rugs with somewhat coarse and very primitive designs.

How are they made? Gabbeh rugs are hand-crafted by Qashqai nomads in the Fars province of Iran; and originally come from southwestern Iran. Often imitated but never equaled, they are made from pure hand-spun sheep's wool dyed with natural colors such as plants and minerals.
