Where do Gashgai rugs come from?
The Gashgai people were originally Turkish-speaking nomads who lived in Fars, specifically in the Shiraz region of Iran. This is why their rugs are often referred to as Turkish Shiraz rugs. However, today, many Gashgai have become sedentary and settled in the villages of the region.

How are they made?
The Gashgai have, however, maintained their tradition of knotting their rugs on horizontal nomadic looms. During the pleasant season, some women can be seen working in the garden or in the courtyard in front of their homes.
