Where do they come from? The city of Senneh (or Sanandaj), located in the heart of Kurdistan in Iran, has developed a carpet production with a completely original style, entirely independent of other Kurdish productions.

What are the characteristics of Senneh carpets? The workmanship is indeed very refined, both in the execution technique and in the design, which has not changed over the past centuries. The structure of these carpets is made of cotton. The weft of the carpets is made with a cotton thread, whose passage is clearly visible on the reverse side.

How to recognize a true Senneh carpet? On the most precious models, silk is often used for the weft. Characterized by small ornamental motifs (Herati or Boteh, very common motifs in Iran) arranged in regular rows and repeated endlessly, these carpets are easily recognizable.
