Where do they come from?
At that time, Tabriz rugs were produced in the great tradition of Persian art with sumptuous floral decorations inspired by the miniatures of the Tabriz school, which was then the capital of the Persian Empire. It is not possible to compare current production with ancestral production because the latter is quite uneven. Nevertheless, there are certain private workshops that make a real effort to maintain the customs of ancestral production and thus provide rugs with great finesse.
How are Tabriz rugs made?
Woven with shiny and strong wool, finely spun by hand by the nomadic women of the region, Tabriz rugs are very resistant rugs. Indeed, the fine velvet wool they are made of does not crush, which is why good Tabriz rugs are expensive, but exceptional quality often justifies the price.
How to recognize real Tabriz rugs?
Regarding the decor of these rugs, we often find 17th-century designs with many inventions. In some rugs, for example, animals are distributed in lush landscapes in the style of old miniatures. We also find the Herati motif on the central medallions, the field remains plain but sometimes it is filled with bushes and flowers.
All our Tabriz rugs are unique pieces, sold with their certificate of origin.
